PHOENIX and BANGOR – Merle Pembroke, 56, died peacefully Nov. 13, 2011, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 6, 1955, in Bangor, son of Gladys (Engstrom) Smith.
He is survived by his partner of 15 years, Randy Nadeau; sisters, Donna Buckley and Hazel Ventry of Ocala, Fla., Rochelle Webb of Winterport, and Estelle Farris of Cumberland; brothers, Ronald McFarlin of Ocala, Fla., Ernest McFarlin of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Donald Pembroke of Veazie; a special cousin, Ruby Grindle of Surprise, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews.
