NEWPORT – Roger A. Ireland, 66, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, with his family at his side at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born March 8, 1945, in Houlton, son of Herbert and Rosetta (McPherson) Ireland.
Roger grew up in Houlton relocating to the Bangor area in 1963. Roger made his career working for 20 years for Maine Central Railroad. He was an avid outdoorsman and he loved hunting and fishing.
Roger will be greatly missed by his son, Darrick and his wife, Liz, and their children, Roger, Randy and Rusty, of Levant; stepson, Raymond Smith Jr. and his wife, Cindy, and their children, Danielle and Desirae, of Levant; stepdaughter, Cindy Hewes of Holden and her daughter, Heidi Levensalor, of Orrington; sister, Carol Marley and her companion, Philip Chase, of Hermon; brother, Gerald and his wife, Jane, of Island Falls; two dear nephews, Bruce and Chris Marley; and two great-grandsons. In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by a brother, Darrell.
