PRESQUE ISLE – Edward E. Little, 84, died Dec. 20, 2011, in his sleep. He was born May 13, 1927, in Bethel, to Edward E. and Virginia A. (Goodnow) Little.
He graduated from Gould Academy and the University of Maine, Orono. He worked as an accountant for Gould & Smith, Presque Isle, before taking over the Bemis potato bag distributorship. Although he lost his left arm in a lumber mill accident when he was 16, he was an accomplished golfer, hunter, snowmobiler and fly-fisherman. The joy of his life was the family camp in the Northern Maine Woods. He and Mary E. McConnell were married July 8, 1950, in Portage. Mary taught school in Presque Isle until her retirement in 1983. Ed worked for NEPCO before retiring in 1985.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary of Presque Isle; daughters, Janice Scribner and her husband, Doug, of Lutz, Fla., and Nanci Little of Presque Isle; granddaughter, Jacqueline Whittaker of Denver; and half brothers, Warren Hood of Presque Isle and Wayne Hood of Lewiston and their families. He was predeceased by his parents; his half sister, Bobbie Ann; and many friends.
