MILFORD – Bob Faerber, 60, beloved preschool teacher and friend to all, passed away quickly and unexpectedly, Dec. 30, 2011. He was born and raised in Kingston, N.Y.
Bob and his wife, Lynn, moved to Maine in 1980 when he accepted a job with University of Maine at Orono’s public safety department. Bob later worked for five years at Kids Peace, Ellsworth, before joining the staff at Green House Nursery School; his ultimate dream job, where he became known for his crazy creations with cardboard, summer school with the “Dinos,” his ever-popular obstacle courses, and his gentle and kind demeanor. Bob also greatly enjoyed his work with children and young adults through United Cerebral Palsy of Maine as well as Living Innovations.
In addition to his wife of 36 years, Lynn Powers Faerber; and their “three amigos,” Justine Dyer, Jenni Johnson and Bryce Kennedy, Bob is survived by his beloved family including his sister, Pat and her husband, Chuck Whitaker; brother, Gary Faerber; very special nieces, Donna and her husband, Bruce Wolf, and Denise and her husband, Jon Hornbeck; great-nieces and nephew, Danielle and Julia Wolf and Gabrielle and Joshua Hornbeck. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Marilyn Powers; sister-in-law, Jodi Powers and husband, Bill Savarese; brother-in-law, Bill and his wife, Angela Powers; and very special niece and nephews, Mara and William Savarese and Will and John Powers. Bob is additionally survived by many dear and close friends, as well as his Green House family and all of the former and current students and their wonderful families.
Friends are invited to gather 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at St. Ann’s Church Parish, Main Street, Bradley. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Bob Faerber Memorial Scholarship Fund which will be used to support children’s access to a variety of learning opportunities, care of Betsy Dyer, 1372 Newbury Neck Road, Surry, ME 04684.
