NEWPORT – Martha Saucier went home to be reunited with her husband, Vernon and to be with her Lord Jan. 2, 2012. She was born April 12, 1947, in Howland, to Richard and Cora (Higgins) Grover.

Martha had many names: Mom, Aunt Martha and Meme.

Martha was always there for you. She was happiest when she was surrounded by children.

She is survived by her children, Vernon and his wife, Sue, Leah and her husband, Peter, Richard, Brad and his wife, Kathleen, Dale and Heidi and her husband, Brenton. She is also survived by two that she loved as her daughters, Lynn and Laura, mothers of six of her grandchildren. Her grandchildren, Lacey, Wade, Michael, Taylor, James, Bradley, Destiny, Damien and Dale Jr. will surely miss their meme. She also had numerous nieces and nephews she loved. She had a love for so many children she thought of as her own. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon; and several other family members. Special thanks to Pastor John Cutler and Greenfield Baptist Church.

A memorial will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Greenfield Baptist Church, Greenfield Road. A potluck get-together, which was one of Martha’s favorite activities, will be held immediately after the memorial at Greenbush Town Hall, Military Road, off Route 2.
