MADISON, Maine — A local woman cheated death Wednesday night when a pickup truck traveling more than twice the posted speed limit slammed into her car, according to police.
Angela Moody, 35, of Madison is recovering at a Bangor hospital and the pickup’s driver, Scott Frost, 24, of Norridgewock, is behind bars on multiple charges, Madison Police Chief Barry Moores said.
“She took a pretty hard knock,” said Moores.
Moores said tests indicated that Frost was intoxicated, and a local resident had notified the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office that the man had nearly struck a residence on Finch Street.
The chief said Deputy Don Avery located the vehicle after the call came in, but before he could activate the lights and siren on his cruiser, Frost’s pickup smashed into Moody’s Buick sedan. Madison police and rescue personnel responded quickly.
The speed limit on Pine Street, where the collision took place, is 25 mph, and Moores said Frost’s pickup was traveling 60 mph.
Moody suffered a broken foot and clavicle in the crash, and her vehicle’s air bag was deployed. She was taken by ambulance to Redington-Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan and taken by helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. A hospital spokesman had no information on her condition Friday.
Frost was taken to Redington-Fairview for treatment of minor cuts and bruises, and subsequently was released and arrested, Moores said. Results of his blood alcohol test weren’t immediately available.
He faces felony charges of aggravated driving to endanger and operating under the influence, along with misdemeanor counts of reckless conduct, driving without a license and criminal speeding.
Moores said Frost was convicted of OUI in 2010.

This smiling jerk effed up BIG time!
Yup, he probably didn’t have auto insurance either.
People who behave this way need to be put away. Unfortunately, many of them end up back on our roads and do the same dam thing again. Our courts must change the way we deal with oui drivers, it’s that simple. But then again we citizens don’t put enough pressure on people who make theses decisions. Until we get more agressive then we will continue to have people killed by OUI drivers.
Thank goodness she will be okay, too bad it had not been him that was hurt, he was too drunk to get hurt…
i think its very rude and ignorant and thoughtless of a person to drink and think they are fine to get behind the wheel and endanger others. i know they wouldnt like it too much if one of their family members were ever in an accident and hurt or killed by a drunk driver, maybe they would think twice. or how would they feel to learn the accident they was just in was family in the opposite vehicle and was all killed? they likely still wouldnt change their ways unfortunately. they all seem to think they own the roads and can make their own laws. sorry for this innocent woman for her injuries she encountered and hope she recovers soon.
i also think those that are caught drinking and driving deserve to have their driving privileges permanently taken away although i am sure that still will not stop them from driving. maine claims to have tough oui consequences but i think they need to be more severe.
She must have had an angel watching over her….& for that matter, tho he may not believe it, HE is lucky too, that he did not kill her. He has no excuse for his behavior & I hope he is held totally responsible for the injuries he has caused this woman, both legally & civilly….
