ORRINGTON – Charles E. “Chuck” Gero Jr., passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home Jan. 9, 2012. He was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Cohoes, N.Y., the son of Charles E. and Marion (Farrington) Gero.

Chuck served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years and was a 1962 graduate of the University. of Maine where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He remained active in the fraternity for a number of years. Upon his graduation, he was a dye salesman for Allied Chemical Corp of Morristown, N.J. In 1978, he joined Industrial Dyestuffs in Clifton, N.J., as vice president of national sales. Upon his retirement, the family moved to Orrington.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia (Loughlin) Gero; one son, Charles Edward Gero III and his companion, Sandra Ware, all of Orrington; a brother, James and his wife, Cathy, of Rockwall, Texas; a sister, Dorothy Warren of Los Angeles; several nieces and a nephew; one aunt, Betty Farrington Black of Havelock, N.C.

At Chuck’s request, no services will be held. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
