BREWER and LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. – Mary Patricia “Pat” Kelley was born Nov. 1, 1941, in Portland, to Joseph Coffin Sr. and Priscilla (Brooks) Coffin. She passed away peacefully Jan. 7, 2012, after losing a long battle with breast cancer at her home in Land O’ Lakes, Fla.
Mary Pat spent her teen years living in South Brewer before moving to Connecticut. She remained in Connecticut for 40 years before returning to her childhood home at 443 South Main St. She later moved to the Leach Home where she enjoyed the friendship of the other residents and will long be remembered for her wild earrings. Upon the return of her cancer in July 2011, Pat moved to Florida to be with her son and his family.
She is survived by her loving son, Chris and her wonderful daughter-in-law, Elaine; grandchildren, Elisa Crosby and PJ Kilgore, Amanda and David Crosby, and Steven Kelley; daughter, Kim Duke and husband, Don, all of Florida; grandson, Bruce Waterbury and his wife, Clare, and one great-grandchild, Leila Olivia Waterbury, who all reside in Boston; brothers, Joseph A. Coffin Jr. and his wife, Catherine, Donald R. Coffin and his wife, Rhonda, and Richard M. Coffin and his wife, Sue; former spouse and caring friend, Bedford B. Kelley of Tampa, Fla.; and one brother-in-law, James Kelley and his wife, Mary, who she spent countless hours and had many trips with and was eternally grateful for their love and support. She was predeceased by her parents; and brother, Grover K. Coffin, who we lost way too early.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa Catholic Church, South Main Street, Brewer. A time for sharing wonderful times will be immediately afterward at the church center. Pat wanted this to be casual dress with no suits or ties.
