HOWLAND – Mae Alfreda (Jones) Hatch, 89, went home to be with the Lord Jan. 17, 2012, surrounded by her family at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Sept. 22, 1922, in Lincoln, daughter of Clayton and Grace (York) Jones.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis John Hatch; eight brothers, two sisters; and a grandson, Joseph “Joey” Thibeault. She is survived by a sister, Claudette Detrick and her husband, Les; two sons, Francis Hatch and his wife, Ruth, of LaGrange, and Pearl “Buzz” Hatch and his wife, Andrea, of Howland; daughter, Angelia Fowler and her husband, Steve, of Howland; sister-in-law, Marilyn Jensen and her husband, Floyd; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, several nieces and nephews.
Mae was a devoted member of West Enfield Church of God, right up until last Sunday. She contributed thousands of dollars to the church by craft and yard sales, and church suppers. She enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. She loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and spending time at their camp on Boyd Lake. Mae and Francis spent much of their life helping those less fortunate than themselves.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Angelia Fowler officiating.
