NORTH YARMOUTH – Martha Louise Lambert, 82, formerly of Hampden, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at Springbrook Nursing Care. She was born Dec. 20, 1929, in Brunswick, a daughter of Emma (Stover) and Harold R. Given.
She graduated from Brunswick High School and the University of Maine. She was a beloved sixth grade teacher at Weatherbee School, Hampden, for 25 years. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and wildflowers. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star. Her life revolved around her family’s needs and interests, especially water and snow skiing. She enjoyed listening and watching the loons at the family camp on Craig Pond. She especially enjoyed the Thanksgiving holidays spent with large family gatherings. She will be remembered for her delicious fudge and fresh strawberry pies. She had a strong, independent spirit. She was not a fan of chauvinism.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Martha Jordan and her husband, Richard, of Machiasport; her son, David Lambert of North Yarmouth; her grandson, Derek Jordan of Machiasport and his son, Alex; her sister, Emma White of Reading, Mass.; as well as extended family. She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Clayton F. Lambert; and her grandson, Alex Jordan.
A gathering and celebration of Martha’s life will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth.
