HERMON – Douglas Stuart Henriksen, 81, passed away Jan. 15, 2012, with his nieces and nephew by his side after a battle with a rare kidney disease. He was born Oct. 25, 1930, in Boston.

He left reluctantly, wanting to care for his loving wife of 40 years, Kathleen (Nevells) Henriksen, who resides at Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Douglas was very handy working at carpentry, electrical, plumbing and remodeling.

In addition his wife, he is survived by a brother, Charles Francis; a stepdaughter, Pat Cote; stepgrandchildren, Tom, Nicky and Billy Jo; stepdaughter-in-law, Elaine Martin; stepgrandchildren, Christopher and Amy, all of Connecticut; a sister-in-law, Glen Powers; nieces, Linda Springer and her husband, George, and their daughter, Sarah; Jill Briggs and her husband, Bob, and their daughters, Bethany, BeckyLee and Jennifer; and Loris DiCesare, and her sons, Jeffrey and Wayne Giroux; nephew, Timothy Richardson and his wife, Brenda; several other nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his employer and friends, Bill and Cindy Perry and family, and Carol Treadwell; and Gentiva staff. He was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Margo; a sister; and a stepson, Terry Martin.

A graveside funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hammond Street Extension, Bangor, with the Rev. George Springer officiating. Arrangements by Memorial Alternatives, 205 Center St., Bangor.
