CONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire drivers in the Franconia Notch area during coming snowstorms may think they are seeing double when they look at a state plow truck.
New Hampshire transportation officials are poised to deploy a new weapon in their snowplowing arsenal — a tow-behind plow mounted on a trailer that enables one 10-wheel truck to plow two lanes at once.
New Hampshire joins Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts in adding the new “tow plow” device to its fleet of plow trucks.
Transportation officials say the tow plow will be tested first in Franconia Notch and will eventually be deployed to Interstate 93 in Manchester and Interstate 95 on the seacoast.
Officials say there are 200 tow plows in use nationwide, including 70 in Missouri.
I wonder how is this done with cars on the road?
The same as it is now. It’s not as if it will be trying to pass any cars. This will only be used on highways, not on single lane roadways. It’s no different than a convoy of trucks plowing together, “blocking” the entire highway.

Actually I have plowed snow before, and yes, I did stay at Holiday Inn Express last night. LOL

I’ve seen it on RT9, pretty cool it pulls like a trailer the driver pushes a button and it swings to off to the side (passenger side) of the truck, looks weird but works awesome, and yea they can winga back.
I wonder how they hold up after catching on to a guardrail????
