BANGOR – Helen M. Babcock, 93, wife of the late Harold L. Babcock, died Jan. 23, 2012, at a local health care facility. She was born Nov. 4, 1918, in Island Falls, daughter of Frank and Clara (McIntyre) Martin.

Helen graduated from Island Falls High School and Eastern Maine General Hospital nursing school, class of 1940, where she held a head nursing position and later was a supervisor at Bangor City Nursing Healthcare Center, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Island Falls Alumni, Bangor City Nursing & Healthcare Auxiliary, and EMGH, Eastern Maine Medical Center and Husson Alumni, the latter of which she served as past president. Helen was also a member of Bangor Garden Club and Senior Candle Pin Bowling Team for several years. She spent many summers at the family cottage at Pushaw Lake with family and friends.

She is survived by her two sons, Terrence Babcock and Timothy Babcock, both of Glenburn; four grandchildren, Stephanie Thomas of Woodbridge, Va., Julia Przybyl of Houston, Heather Babcock of Miami and Adam Babcock of Thorndike; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Eric Przybyl, and Ethan Babcock; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence and Ronald Martin; and sister, Marie Banton.

The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 5-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
