PALMYRA – Joan B. Tilton, 69, died Jan. 24, 2012, at her residence. She was born Feb. 26, 1942, in Hartland, a daughter of Clair and Louise (Ham) Bailey.
She graduated from Piscataquis Community High School, class of 1960. She had been employed at Edward’s Co., Pittsfield, and at Hannaford Brothers, Skowhegan, where she was a cake decorator. Joan currently co-owned and operated Personal Touch Car Care, Palmyra, with her husband. She was a loving woman with a very big heart and always was the first one to help someone in need. She was a hard worker and put her heart and soul into everything she did. Joan was very forgiving and believed in today. Her loves included spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her other passion was Hollywood Slots. She loved the thrill and had her own special machine that barely ever let her down.
She is survived by her mother, Louise Bailey of Crowley, La.; her husband, Doug Tilton of Palmyra; one daughter, Beth Tilton and companion, Ken Boucher, of Belgrade; three brothers and their wives, Raymond and wife, Florence Bailey, Donald and wife, Anna Bailey, and Robert and wife, Paula Bailey, all of Cambridge; a sister, Barbara Lengefeld of Crowley, La.; two brothers-in-law, Gary Tilton of Connecticut and Perry Booth of Hartland; two grandchildren, Peter and wife, Alicia Curtis, and Nicole and husband, Aaron Demchak; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Madison Demchak; and friends, Brett and April Patten. She was predeceased by her father, Clair Bailey; her in-laws, Linwood Tilton and Grace Booth; brother-in-law, Dennis Tilton; sister-in-law, Kathy (Booth) Chandler; and her beloved cat, Cuddles. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with Pastor Brian Woodbury officiating. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of the service. Spring burial will be at Powers Cemetery, West Pittsfield. Those who wish may leave written tributes at
