CONWAY, N.H. — Police in Conway, N.H., say damage from vandalism to equipment belonging to a logging company runs into the tens of thousands of dollars.
Detective Sgt. Al Broyer tells WMWV radio a worker arriving at a wood lot in Fryeburg, Maine, early Wednesday discovered two logging skidder machines had been started up and rammed into other logging machines. Trees on neighboring landowners’ property also were knocked down as the skidders were driven through the woods.
The lot is owned by Fadden Logging and Chipping Inc. in Conway. It straddles the Maine and New Hampshire border.
Owner Tom Fadden says at least one bulldozer was wrecked.
Conway and Fryeburg police are investigating.
I hope the vandal(s) are caught and reprimanded accordingly. The destruction of property and taking away of one’s livelihood by malice is shameful and impacts more than just the victim. What about the other businesses who depended on his business for theirs, or the insurance (hopefully the equipment was insured) that will pay the claim then Fadden Logging & Chipping’s insurance costs will go up thus making it more difficult for the company to keep insured. This may be seen as a victimless crime but don’t be fooled each and everyone one of us pay for these sort of crimes.
To the Fadden Company, I am sorry that some idiotic person(s) destroyed your business materials and, I hope your business is up and running again very soon. Good wishes in recovery.
