AUGUSTA, Maine — A Maine man has pleaded guilty to breaking into a neighbor’s home in the town of China and sexually assaulting her.
James Bickford pleaded guilty in Kennebec County Superior Court on Tuesday to gross sexual assault and a burglary charge related to the same break-in.
The 21-year-old victim escaped during the attack the night of July 29, and ran naked to another home to get help.
The Kennebec Journal reports that the 33-year-old Bickford is scheduled to be sentenced in March when he faces a maximum of 15 years behind bars under a plea deal with prosecutors.
Authorities say Bickford waited until the woman’s husband went to work, then wearing a ski mask, used a key he had to get into the home. He had a key because he used to live there.
Yup…he’ll probably be out in a year. Nice.
Give him the full sentence that is possible by law please…….The first rule of thumb, when you buy a “new” house or apartment, change the locks…..not that doing this would have stopped this criminal…..

Wow did I read that headline wrong… Anyway, great job on the part of the woman to escape. I hope she gets the help and support she needs to deal with this awful thing that happened to her. She showed a lot of strength getting away, and I really hope that she can call on that strength again to help her with the aftermath she is forced to go through purely due to this… sorry can’t think of a name BDN would let me call him.

Every stiff sentence handed down means everyone stays employed for another 10 years in Maine’s taxpayer funded program for the un- employable called the Maine criminal justice system.

You do the math. If this perp Bickford is given a 15 year sentence multiply that by the $35,000.00
we pay as taxpayers to keep him in those electronic cesspools called prisons for one year.
