NEW BRITIAN, Conn., and FORT KENT – Yvon G. Bussieres, 62, passed peacefully Jan. 31, 2012, at his home in Fort Kent. He was born March 31, 1949, in St. Prosper, Quebec, the son of Benoit and Simone (Boulet) Bussieres.

Yvon was known as a hard worker all of his life, with jobs ranging from delivering baked goods at people’s homes in St. Prosper, Quebec, working in a factory in Biddeford, and finally working on construction for 42 years in Connecticut doing roofing and siding until his illness. He really loved his work and was owner of Yvon’s Siding. He enjoyed the companionship of his friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand. One of his biggest passions was watching his hockey and drinking his Pepsi.

He is survived by his parents, Benoit and Simone Bussieres of St. Prosper, Quebec; his wife of 40 years, Dolores “Diane” Daigle Bussieres of Fort Kent; one son, Brian Bussieres and companion, Rose Ouellette, of St. Francois, New Brunswick; two daughters, Nicole and Lamarr Russ of Plantville, Conn., and Cheryl and Scott Robichaud of Fort Kent; and seven grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Amanda and Austin Bussieres, Keon Russ, Adrien and Karley Robichaud. He is also survived by three brothers and their wives, Martin and Louisette Bussieres of St. Damase, Quebec, Denis and Dany Bussieres, and Serge and Danielle Bussieres, both of St. Prosper Quebec. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent, where a celebration of Yvon’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4. Spring burial will be held May 15 at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.
