BELFAST, Maine — A man was arrested after allegedly head-butting a woman during a domestic violence assault that occurred early Saturday morning.
Ryan S. Flannery, 26, of Belfast apparently had been in an argument with the woman that lasted 12 hours, according to Belfast Police Chief Mike McFadden.
“It just kept going,” the chief said Monday.
Police responding to the call found that the woman’s right eye was red and swollen. Flannery agreed that the couple had been arguing but claimed that he did not intentionally hit her, McFadden said.
“The victim said that Flannery had got in her face, and was yelling at her and had actually head-butted her,” the chief said.
Flannery was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault and domestic violence criminal threatening.
He remained in Waldo County Jail in Belfast on Monday afternoon with bail set at $1,000 cash, according to a jail official.

Oh yeah… another “tough guy”… Guess his Mom was at fault… NOT!
Why did the woman stay an argue for 12 hours? I guess some woman like the excitement. I bet she is trying to raise the bail money now.
Why is it everytime I read the posts there is a David or Davidvsgoliath defending the WOMAN BEATER? That should be your name David? You don’t rip phones out of walls during a 911 call and you don’t headbutt a woman. MAYBE IT WAS HER HOUSE.
Or maybe there was something or someone that prevented her from leaving.
The jail in Belfast is filling up fast.
But I saw a Dannon Yogurt commercial on the super bowl. No one was arrested there. Many thought it was funny.
