OWLS HEAD, Maine — Four people are accused of robbing a woman of prescription medication, her cellphone, credit card and about $50 in cash, according to police.

The four were arrested Monday night and charged in connection with the robbery.

The victim was visiting an acquaintance in Owls Head Monday when she was assaulted about 9:30 p.m., according to Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison. She suffered bruises to her face as a result of the assault and was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, where she was treated and released for her injuries, the sheriff said.

Arrested were Jessica Elwell, 22, of Owls Head for robbery, stealing drugs, theft and violating conditions of release; Kristi Hall, 22, of Owls Head for criminal conspiracy, stealing drugs and theft; Derrick Bustard, 19, of Rockland for criminal conspiracy and Kimberly Vieira of St. George for violating conditions of release.

The four were taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland.

Bail was set at $10,000 cash for Elwell, $5,000 cash for Hall and Bustard, and no bail for Vieira.

The initial court appearance for the four, if they are not released on bail earlier, is Feb. 15, in 6th District Court in Rockland.

Deputy John Hansen and Sgt. Michael Sprague are investigating the case.

    1. 15 years ago i left maine because of multi generations snorting pills together. things have changed alright.. for the worst. very sad.  the people getting paid to address these issues need to stop lining their own pockets and get on it… it is getting ridiculous!

        1. i know.  i can’t believe the shape they let people wander through the community in… people so high on their prescriptions and/or methodone they can’t even keep their eyes open,  legal dealers with no consequence.  unbelievably sad mess our “healthcare” system is profiting, i mean providing.

      1. Lawyers , judges , cops and probation officers make their living out of these people’s stupidity. There is no advantage for them to suddenly get tough on crime.  I’d like to know the connection the victim had to these people.  This seems like another reason for me to carry a gun !

        1. And what most people dont understand is when the county jail is full, the federal funds that assist the county jail goes up too ! Thats why this county dont mind criminals coming mto visit their fine facility frequently !

  1. Look at the ages of those arrested. Right now is the time for a judge in conjunction with their parents to set them straight. Do not let them stray any further down the path that they are on. Make the punishment fit the crime and get them the help they need to turn their lives around before it is too late, if it isn’t already.

    1. Yeah look at their ages. They are all old enough to know better.Parents? What good will that do? What if they don’t live with their parents? And if they do live with their parents what are they going to do spank them, wait that’s against the law. Lowlife should be punished to the full extent of the law. There’s no help for this kind of ilk!

      1. You are right. I guess I was just going on the premise that I would hope that I would still have some influence with my children regardless of their age. After thinking about it, my
kids were taught that this behavior is not acceptable in the first place. I did
state in my first comment that the punishment should fit the crime, but I think
that is a concept that is lost on the judicial system here in Maine.

    2. Uh let’s see 3 out of 4 charged with violating conditions of release. Begs the question why were they confined in the first place?
You’re right, Do not let them stray any FURTHER down the path that they’re on, They’ve strayed far enough and they blew all the help they were given, instead they thumbed their nose at every law abiding person in our communities .
Parents? They either failed or just didn’t give a damn, either way sad news.
Punishment? How exactly does that work now? Didn’t seem to before,  why should it now?
These are scum that need to be put in hard labor and suffer just like their victims.
Sorry bleeding hearts but I’m out of patience, money to fund their “Help”, or sympathy to care anymore.

  2. Yepper….complete with apathetic sneers and Facebook poses. (Ironic, that if one takes a quick glance at the “friends” on their Facebook pages one can see familiar names from the police blotters. Will wonders ever cease.)

  3. I used to go to school with the Elwell subject. She was always a nice girl, cheerleader, on the honor roll. Too bad people have to get involved and drugs and the wrong crowd.

  4. It appears that Moms and Dads already had their shot. These three could have killed that woman, it’s time for some serious time.
