FORT FAIRFIELD – Amos J. Boulier, 85, passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 15, 2012, at a Caribou nursing facility, after an extended illness. He was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Fort Fairfield, son of Alfred and Mary (Crock) Boulier.
He was educated in the Fort Fairfield school system and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from July 21, 1953 to June 1, 1955. After his discharge from the Army, Amos worked for many years at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery and also for the town of Fort Fairfield. He was married to Idella Jensen, May 27, 1977, and will be remembered for his gentleness, kindness, honesty, generosity, strong work ethic and love of homemade sweets. He had been a member of Fort Fairfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187 and a communicant of Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield.
In addition to his parents, Amos was predeceased by his wife, Idella; one brother, Fred Boulier; two sisters, Roseanna Theriault and Julia Dean; and one brother-in-law, Philip Flannery. He is survived by two brothers, David Boulier of Tennessee, and Edward Boulier and his wife, Karen, of Savannah, Ga.; three sisters, Mary Mazerolle and her husband, Clifford, of Caribou, Rita Bubar of Arizona, and Evelyn Flannery of Fort Fairfield; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held immediately after the funeral Mass at VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Spring interment with military honors will take place at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Boulier to Maine Veterans Home, 163 Van Buren Road, Caribou, ME 04736. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
