WORCESTER, Mass. — Authorities in Massachusetts have arrested two men in connection with the disappearance of a Worcester resident nearly two decades ago.

Prosecutors say 45-year-old Elias Samia was arrested on a murder charge Wednesday in connection with the 1994 disappearance of Kevin Harkins.

Police also arrested John Fredette in South Portland, Maine, where he is being held on a fugitive from justice charge. He also faces a murder charge.

The arrests were made 18 years to the day after Harkins disappeared after leaving a city bar. He got into a car with several other men and was never seen again. His body has not been located.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. told the Telegram & Gazette that the dogged determination of the Worcester police led to the arrests.
