BATH, Maine — Bath police are investigating the case of a 17-year-old boy who was found dead Sunday morning by his girlfriend.

Bath Lt. Stan Cielinski said investigators are awaiting a cause of death determination from the state’s medical examiner, but that police do not suspect foul play. The name of the boy has not been released.

“It’s not normal for a 17-year-old with no medical conditions to die like this,” Cielinski said. “We’re trying to figure out what happened.”

Cielinski said the boy’s girlfriend called 911 at 9:07 a.m. Sunday and that police and rescue personnel found the 17-year-old deceased in his bed. The boy spent Saturday night with friends before returning home at 530 High St., which is his girlfriend’s apartment, and going to sleep. Cielinski said investigators are focused on what the boy was doing Saturday night.

Cielinski said the 17-year-old’s parents said he went to high schools in Bath and Lisbon, but that investigators suspect he hasn’t attended school recently.

    1. ..because it is easier on our brain to read that a man died rather than a child. Maybe the shock to our conscience term played into the story some how???

    2.  He’s a man if he murders someone while under age 18, but he’s a kid if he purchases cigarettes under age 18. Man when convenient and kid when convenient to todays laws

  1. In one sentence , we dont suspect foul play and in the very next sentence , its not normal for a 17 year old with no medical conditions to die like this ! OK , so is that a comment to keep a possible suspect from getting panicky and running , or is that a comment to let them know you suspect foul play ?

    1.  Foul play indicates someone did something intentionally to harm him.  If it was something he did to himself, like accidentally ingesting something or too much of something, then that is not foul play.  Foul play doesn’t mean everything other than natural/medical causes, it means they don’t suspect someone did something to hurt him on purpose.

  2. A 17 yr old staying at friends for the night then off to the girlfriend’s pad in the morning?  WTF!!
