LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Jacqueline Laney Mollman, 83, formerly of Orono, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at The Episcopal Church Home, Louisville, Ky. She was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Pittsburg, Kan., to Ross and Wilma Laney.
She graduated from Canton High School, Canton, Ill. She met her husband of 62 years, Edward Mollman, at the University of Illinois and together they raised five daughters. Throughout the years, the family lived in Wood River, Ill.; Orono; Boston; Chicago; Bethesda, Md.; and Sun City Center, Fla. Jackie made lifelong friends each place she lived.
The couple moved to Louisville, Ky., in 2009 to be closer to family. Jackie was known for her creativity, sense of humor and a love of reading, all of which she passed to her daughters and grandchildren.
She was seldom without a book. While living in Washington, D.C., Jackie also volunteered at Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Library and Bethesda Public Library. Jackie, Ed and their children shared a keen enjoyment of travel. Their adventures included numerous independent trips to the U.K., Europe and Canada, as well as travel through most of the U.S.
Jackie was predeceased by her parents, Ross and Wilma Laney; and brother, Norman Laney. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edward Mollman; daughters, Meredith Parente, Carol Mollman, Jennifer Mollman, Katherine Waters, and Elizabeth Behringer and husband, Mark; and grandchildren, Jeffrey Waters, Alexandra Waters and Claire Behringer. The family thanks everyone at Sunrise Senior Living and most recently, Jefferson Manor and The Episcopal Church Home for their wonderful care.
The visitation and memorial services are planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Pearson’s Funeral Home, Louisville, Ky. Private burial will be afterward at Cave Hill Cemetery.
