WYTOPITLOCK – Dale R. “Chip” Dow passed away Feb. 25, 2012, in Houlton. He was ready for a rest and to see his wife, Wilma, after being apart for 17 years. He was born Oct. 6, 1923, in Wytopitlock, the son of Bill and Mildred Dow.

Chippy was a staff sergeant with the Army Medics during World War II. He was a woodsman all his life, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening in his free time. After retiring, he spent a lot of time in his workshop, making tables, benches and storage boxes that he loved to give away and stay busy with. He was very proud of his family and especially enjoyed bragging about his grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons, Paul of Wytopitlock, Rodger and his wife, Marilyn, of Linneus and Eugene Debs of Lee; also his daughters, Cynthia and her husband, Richard, of Wytopitlock and Joyce and her husband, Shawn, of Drew Plantation; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind Sharon McCormack of Wytopitlock, who was like another daughter to Chippy. In addition to his wife, Wilma, Chippy was predeceased by a sister, Mary; a brother, Garfield; as well as his “adopted” kids – if not on paper, then by his help and love he gave them when they most needed it, Patty Springer, Pete Caron and Meldon White.
