BANGOR, Maine — A 33-year-old Bangor man who was accused of knocking another man’s tooth out Tuesday night is facing an assault charge.

Steven Davis was issued a summons by Bangor police.

The incident that led to the charge occurred about 9 p.m., when police were called to Glenwood Drive for a disorderly conduct complaint.

When they arrived, police officers found a local man in front of his residence who reported that he had been assaulted, Sgt. Paul Edwards of the Bangor Police Department said Wednesday, citing an arrest report.

The victim, who was bleeding from the mouth and whose tooth had been knocked out, told police that he did not know his attacker but that he thought his name was Steven Davis.

After interviewing both men, police determined that the assault was prompted by an exchange of lewd gestures between the two that the report indicated were sexual in nature.

  1. Gestures? We don’t need no stinkin’ gestures. Sexual in nature? Whose nature?

Maybe the gesture meant, “Hey Baby, you knock me out!” and was taken literally.

If the dude’s a transient, doesn’t that mean he’s just passin’ through snuffling for benefits? Why on earth would you give him a summons that commands him to stick around?

Bangor has gone from a wretched little burg on the edge of nowhere to… Well..

    1. Steven Davis is about 50 something and was born and dragged up in Orrington. Don’t know exactly where he hangs his hat but, he’s been in the Bangor area since he was 18.

      1. You know I grew up in the w. Virginia area and the stereotypes are completely off. I find there are more redneck toothless people in the Bangor area than I ever encountered in WV. Just sayin. And Kentucky is even worse.

        1. I hear ya…I know a few folks from W.V. and you are correct……I have friends in N.C. and the folks from W.V. are usually the brunt of their jokes…..no insult intended…..but I have been told the “tooth” brush was invented in W.V…….

        2. Hoo Haa… Love that 50,000 watt tower-of-power W.W.V.A. the only truly country station left.

  2. “The victim, who was bleeding from the mouth and whose tooth had been knocked out, told police that he did not know his attacker but that he thought his name was Steven Davis.”

I dont know about the rest of you, but I dont know the names of any of the people I dont know.

    1. While Driving I got hit by a car and the driver took off.  I didnt know who the driver was but I think his name was Englebert Humperdinck.

  3. You are not allowed to say “they gave each other the finger” anymore?
    AND
After reading the story one can see that the headline is a lie. it was not the “lewd gestures of a sexual nature’ that got this man charged, but the assault.  Lewd Gestures are protected free speech.

    1. In Reply To……….. Lewd Gestures are protected free speech………..Well, He’s got a fat bloody  lip and  got his tooth knocked out………………… So where’s the protection??
