BURLINGTON – George F. Jipson, 87, was surrounded by his family as he passed away Feb. 29, 2012, at Penobscot Valley Hospital, Lincoln. He was born June 28, 1924, in Burlington, the son of Fred and Ida (Curtis) Jipson.

George had a great love for anything outdoors. Hunting and fishing trips were a great joy for him. Gardening was a way of life. He fed his family and a lot of friends with fresh vegetables or from his canned jars he and his late wife put up together. Gladioluses were a love of his and Jemima’s. When you drove by their home, you couldn’t help noticing their huge flower gardening that just got bigger each year. George was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was very active in his Veterans of Foreign Wars post. He received many awards. Bingo was another passion of his. He loved calling out the numbers and meeting with his friends.

George was predeceased by his wife, Jemima; daughter, Gloria; infant son, David; daughter-in-law, Roxanne; as well as two sisters and a brother, Florence, Ruth and Gardiner. He is survived by son, Doug and wife, Bev, of Burlington; son, Ronald of Texas; son, Wallace and wife, Carol, of Lincoln; sister, Evelyn; two brothers, Herschel and Ellis; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
