HAMPDEN – Helen (Goodwin) Frost, 89, died March 1, 2012, at a Bangor health care center. She was born July 28, 1922, in Mariaville, daughter of Harry Richard and Grace (Longmore) Goodwin.

Helen had been employed as a bookkeeper for HC Austin Furniture Store, Ellsworth, and in more recent years, will be remembered as a compassionate provider of home care in the Greater Bangor area. She was a member for more than 50 years of Irene Chapter No. 97 Order of the Eastern Star, Ellsworth. Helen lived and loved life on her own terms.

Surviving are one son, Alton J. Frost Jr. and his wife, Roberta, of Bangor; a daughter, Charlene G. Herrick and her husband, Paul, of Hampden; four grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca, Michele and Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Raymond and Ellie Goodwin, family members of California; her special cat, George; and her dear friends at Roe Village, Hampden.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, March 5, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett, director of chaplaincy services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to call noon until the time of service Monday.
