BANGOR, Maine — A Hampden man who has a lengthy criminal record was seen by Bangor police Officer Steve Pelletier driving a car while under suspension just before noon on Friday and was stopped along Buck Street, according to police.

Carl S. Dawes, 30, had a large hunting-style knife on him and was very upset when he was pulled over for operating after suspension, Sgt. Ed Potter said at the scene.

Police discovered that the vehicle Dawes was driving had plates that belonged to another vehicle and searched the car and found a BB gun in a sheath that looked real and a miniature baseball bat. Synthetic bath salts also were found in the car, which was towed, Sgt. Garry Higgins said Saturday morning.

Dawes was charged with possession of bath salts, operating under suspension and illegal attachment of plates. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail and later released, Higgins said.

Dawes was arrested in January 2011 after he threatened his roommates with a butterfly-style knife, according to a Bangor Daily News story about his arrest. He was sentenced to March 2011 to 30 days in jail for two counts of criminal threatening, according to court listings printed in the Bangor Daily News.

Between 2002 and 2010, Dawes also had four assault convictions and other convictions for carrying a concealed weapon, terrorizing, criminal mischief, burglary of motor vehicle, drinking in public, theft, harassment by telephone, disorderly conduct, operating a vehicle without a license, violating condition of release and failure to appear after bailed, the court listings state. 1.  countryguy2010 didn’t say anything about someone wanting to “prove their a loser”. Just that a neck tattoo is a good sign of it.

    1. It’s like people who ride obnoxiously loud motorcycles. They think they are being tough, intimidating, and free but in reality they come off as needy attention hoo-urs that weren’t given enough attention as children. Im not talking about regular motorcycles I’m talking about the very LOUD obnoxious ones that ride around a 2am keeping people with jobs or school awake at all hours.  All I can think of when I hear a Loud Obnoxious bike rider with tons of tattoos is “Look at me mommy and daddy, look at meeeeeeeeeeee! I’m starved for attention 24 hours a day!”

  1. This guy’s criminal resume indicates and reflects his chosen profession quite clearly……time for an extended visit behind bars, let’s say for 20 years or so…..Crazy……

    1. The  only thing crazy about this story is your remarks,eh?
Give the perp a 20 year sentence times $56,000.00 it cost to warehouse him at the electronic cesspool called the Maine State Prison and Maine taxpayers pick up the tab which is over $1 million dollars.
I know you are going to tell me you have a 3 kids and a wife to feed and the take home pay working at the Maine State Prison is not that great.LOL
Folks the inmates are running the Asylum while the moonbats Haskell and Cain fiddle our money and lives away on the Criminal Justice committee.

Team 4: Lead FBI Agent In Wecht Case Promoted

            July 27, 2007

The lead FBI agent in the criminal investigation of former Allegheny County Medical Examiner Dr. Cyril Wecht has gotten a promotion.

That might come as a surprise, considering the agent’s disciplinary record at the FBI.

Orsini will move from the bureau’s Public Corruption Unit to head up a new administrative unit in the Pittsburgh field office.

It was two weeks ago that Orsini’s checkered personnel file at the FBI was unsealed at federal court, revealing a five-day suspension in 1998 for signing other agents’ names on evidence reports involving seized drugs and money.

In 2001, the FBI demoted Orsini, suspended him for 30 days without pay, placed him on 12 months probation and ordered him to undergo mandatory sensitivity training.

In that discipline report, the FBI found that Orsini, over the years, had failed to follow search guidelines, falsified official documents, engaged in an improper relationship with a female subordinate FBI agent whom he gave a pet collar as a gag Christmas gift, threatened physical assault of a subordinate and damaged government property by punching holes in walls and throwing chairs.

The discipline report also said Orsini “made unprofessional and insensitive remarks on numerous occasions concerning sexual orientation,” including once with a bullhorn when he called on all homosexuals to come out of their offices.

Orsini stands to get a pay raise to go along with his promotion. As an agent, his salary cap is $99,000, but as a supervisory agent, Orsini can make up to $117,000 a year.

Cop-cadet sex in spotlight after Santa Maria shootingProfessor:
Most relationships between officers and youth members of the Police
Explorer program never become public because a youth is unlikely to
report itSANTA MARIA, Calif. — When an on-duty police officer was shot and killed
by a colleague a month ago, residents of this agricultural community
north of Santa Barbara were horrified. Outrage grew when they learned
the shooting occurred as fellow officers tried to arrest the policeman
on suspicion he was having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl
in the city’s “Police Explorers” program.

      1. Silly question, what does a police review board have to do with how a judge sentences someone for a crime?

Any what does Santa Maria CA. explorer program have to do with Maine?

OH wait, bash cops time, I get it???

        1.  Yes they are silly questions and yes I am going to pull the covers of law enforcement who rape.
I will be a smart consumer taking civilian  control of our criminal justice system.
A volunteer civilian review board with subpoena powers would have the mandate to set standards
and enforce them by  hiring and firing people who work in the criminal justice system.
Maine voters and taxpayers own this system , fund it but have no say in how it is being run by returning vets from Iraq.

then carefully avoid fair and open debate with any of the people you
            have thus maligned.
Impugn motives. Attempt to marginalize the critics by
suggesting strongly that they are not really interested in the truth but
are simply pursuing a partisan political agenda or are out to make
            money.
Invoke authority. Here the controlled press and the sham opposition can be very useful.
Dismiss the charges as “old news.”
Come half-clean. This is also known as “confession and
avoidance” or “taking the limited hang-out route.” This way, you create
the impression of candor and honesty while you admit only to relatively
harmless, less-than-criminal “mistakes.” This stratagem often requires
the embrace of a fall-back position quite different from the one
            originally taken.
Characterize the crimes as impossibly complex and the truth as ultimately unknowable.
Reason backward, using the deductive method with a vengeance.
With thoroughly rigorous deduction, troublesome evidence is irrelevant.
For example: We have a completely free press. If they know of
evidence that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) had
prior knowledge of the Oklahoma City bombing they would have reported
it. They haven’t reported it, so there was no prior knowledge by the
BATF. Another variation on this theme involves the likelihood of a
conspiracy leaker and a press that would report it.
Require the skeptics to solve the crime completely.
Change the subject. This technique includes creating and/or reporting a distraction.

    1. Jeeze his eyes are close together ain’t  they? Like that kid banjo player in “Deliverance”.

  2.  We’re missing a real opportunity here.

We should expand the methadone clinics and invite these losers to partake in the “maintenance” program whereby they will be hooked up intraveinously and given a button to push for  unlimited dosages.

     End of problem.

Cop-cadet sex in spotlight after Santa Maria shooting

      http://www.policeone.com/patrol-issues/articles/5191128-Cop-cadet-sex-in-spotlight-after-Santa-Maria-shooting/

Among the places where busts have occurred are Nogales, Ariz., where
last year Officer Mariano Garibay received a two-year prison sentence
for sex with a 16-year-old Explorer. Also last year, former Burlington,
N.C., Officer William Matthew Hill pleaded guilty to raping a
14-year-old Explorer. In Brownwood, Texas, in 2007 Sgt. Vince Ariaz, the
founder of the local Explorer program, pleaded guilty to reduced
charges of sexual assault on a 15-year-old Explorer and was sentenced to
      three concurrent 20-year terms.

      1. I’m sure most people are aware that there are a small percentage of officers who abuse their positions – however, not only is this not relevant to the story at hand, or the comment made that you replied to, you are belittling the very cops who are risking their lives day in and day out to bring violent perps (such as the one above) in. I’ve seen you comment on a lot, which means that you read the news a lot and are aware of how violent crimes are becoming rampant in our state. I agree that cops who abuse should be held to a higher standard when prosecuted, but they are needed now more than ever for our protection and those who are doing a good job should be given nothing but respect!

        1. ding, ding, ding, wrong Amanda! yea I know if you say so it must be true ,LOL
If you visit the forums at copwatch.net and scroll down to law enforcement
sex offenders you will find a partial list of cops arrested for rape over 1,000 pages long. Psssst sparky, no one is keeping track of the percentage of cops arrested for rape or pedophilia. Especially not the moonbats down at the bat house in Augusta.
Things are so bad a female Police Chief wrote a report about police stopping women and raping them. see http://www.pennyharrington.com/drivingfemale.htm
          Also see http://www.unomaha.edu/criminaljustice/PDF/dwf2003final.pdf
But I do appreciate you for pointing out a fatal flaw in our criminal justice system
and one that scares the hell out of me. To quote you  ” but they are needed now more than ever for our protection”
Step back for a second Amanda and ask yourself what happens to a species( in this case humans) who never have to protect themselves for over 150 years because they have hired mercenaries to protect them who are called police?
          Couple of questions
          1. do humans loose the ability to protect themselves? Yea lets call 911 and let them deal with it,eh?
          2. how would you detect humans loosing the ability to protect themselves?
          3. how would humans react when their bodyguards turn on them?
          4. can the bodyguards smell the scent of fear in the people they protect?
          5. How difficult is it to separate law enforcement into 2 functions?
1st function: volunteers, people like you and me police our own communities based on restorative justice
2nd function forensic investigators are hired to solve crimes the community cannot.

Hey, I know you are going to say I don’t watch enough of Rizzoli and Isles or the Mentalist
but then you would open a can of worms and I would have to discuss how the FBI  and other Government agencies create our tv programs to manufacture consent.

when is the last time you saw a television series devoted to exposing crimes committed by FBI  agents?

          1. You are ranting to someone who is merely pointing out that your comment has nothing to do with the comment of whom you replied to and that in essence you are highjacking the thread :)

You shouldn’t make assumptions, no I don’t completely rely on police, I have guns and common sense..I believe that the right to bare arms is an important part of rights to keep us from turning into a military state. At the same time I do know of a few officers personally and they are put in harms way everyday to help keep order- they are good men who risk their lives and shouldn’t be disrespected because of a few bad eggs .. I would ask if you were suggesting that we do not have any police force, no one to uphold our laws, just putting it solely on the shoulders of citizens who views and emotions are so varying that it could lead to something akin to the Salem Witch trials???

  5. Taken to jail and later released. Such an enlightening story. Our system is an absolute joke! Look at his history!!!

    1. We have seen it over and over and over again with these Pete and Repeat offenders….revolving door, period. It is a joke.

    2. Our system is being run by DAs that are told to make money for the state , hence more bail money , more bail money , more bail money !

  6. I just checked the whois database. I see there are still some good domain names available for somebody who wants to start their own news blog. Get in on the dot com boom.

    No match for “BATHSALTSDAILYNEWS.COM”.
    No match for “BANGORBATHSALTSDAILYNEWS.COM”.
    No match for “BANGORBATHSALTSNEWS.COM”.

  7. Just look at the final paragraph…. Should this man be out and about with the general public?! Holy cannoli… It’s scary that people like this are allowed to be on the streets.

    1.  File this under the inmates are running the asylum eh?

Guess you never heard about how your tax dime  got Scott Kimball out of Prison.

48 Hours report on killer FBI informant

CBS/48 Hours ran this special investigative report
on serial killer-FBI informant Scott Kimball. Kimball–a long-time
felon–was sharing a prison cell and saw a photo of his cellmate’s
girlfriend, Jennifer Marcum. Kimball concocted a story about a
murder-for-hire scheme in order to secure his own release, and
then–while working for the FBI as an informant–proceeded to murder
Marcum and at least two other women. When Marcum’s parents approached
the FBI with their suspicions, Kimball’s FBI handler dismissed them.
This dynamic is one of the major dangers of informant reliance: not only
was Kimball able to use his status as a jailhouse snitch to gain
release based on fabricated evidence, but his snitch status and
relationship with the government protected him, at least initially, from
      investigation.

  8. Before you all get excited and say out on bail after his record, you have to understand it costs lots of money to pay our fine courts operating cost ! Therefore, you will see , bail after bail, after bail. Thats because thats how our court systems make money ! Also what you need to know is , the more people in jail the more secure jobs in courts and jails are because of matching funds from the federal government. Its a tangled web that us tax payers have to support.

  9. I learned that Bath Salts (even though it’s a stimulant) offers no pleasurable feeling and in fact creates a panic feeling, a feeling of paranoia that grows. So I can’t figure out why people keep using it again and again. It also seems to age them rapidly and make them look horrible.  I’m not saying that I like cocaine but at least coke is designed to create an elated pleasurable feeling, so why abuse a drug that not only offers NO pleasure but creates pain? You’d think after the firs couple times of doing it they’d figure out that this Bath Salts crap  is NO GOOD!

  10. Just another buddy of Ms. Jessi Bryden and her gang of thugs, things will never change until they find a remote island for all these losers.
