Maine resident Ben Parks-Stamm is set to be a contestant on Jeopardy on Tuesday, March 6. The episode featuring Parks-Stamm is set to air at 7:30 p.m. on ABC. A 32-year-old apple farmer from Winthrop, Parks-Stamm graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. During his free time, he enjoys cross-country skiing, hiking and canoeing.

  2. I’m glad to see a Mainer getting ahead.  I’m a bit curious, though, as to why a civil engineering graduate from Princeton would be an apple farmer versus choosing to work as a civil engineer.

      1.  The roads aren’t the greatest.  However, I ask the question simply because I had been reading recently in all the local papers that Maine needs to push young people toward getting an education in sciences, engineering, math, and technology.  Yet, we have a bright person here with one of these engineering degrees from a premier university working as an apple farmer.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that.  However, if he was unable to find work in Maine as a civil engineer, then why push young kids into getting an engineering degree if there’s no work to be found?
