CORINNA – Frances M. Dyer, 82, went home with her Lord March 3, 2012. She was born April 29, 1929, in Bangor, a daughter of John and Minnie (Barry) Cairns.

She graduated from Portland High School. Frances was a member of Pleasant Street Christian Church, Downeast, Pine Tree and Maine Country Music associations, and was a key performer with the bands “Country Spirit” and “Ginger Mae and The Western Play Boys.” She was named Top Yodeler of the Year in Branson, Mo., and belonged to the Academy of Country Music and Maine Country Music Hall of Fame. She was also a member of Dusters Antique Car Club.

She is survived by four sons, James Jr. and wife, Patricia, of Atlanta, Daniel and Donald Dyer, both of Corinna, and Pastor Darrell and wife, Paula, of Charleston; two sisters-in-law, Caroline Annis of Corinna and Kathleen Dyer of Bangor; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece and her husband, Mary Ellen and Richard Small. She will be fondly remembered by dear friends, Ken Wentworth, “Buck” Bisbee, Marion White, Nat Jackson, Gloria Jean Stikes, Betty Gribin, Ruby Story, Everard Dodge, Brian Gelina, Yogi and Lolalee Dillingham. She was predeceased by her husband, James Sr.; and by a daughter, Judith Jordan.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 5, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Pleasant Street Christian Church, Corinna, with Pastor Michael Troyer and her son, Darrell, officiating. Burial will be at Nutter Cemetery, Corinna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a scholarship fund established to benefit a student pursuing a music education, care of RSU 19, P.O.
