TAMPA, Fla., and MARS HILL – Philip L. Clockedile left us March 2, 2012, after a brief illness. He was born May 27, 1936, the third child of Albert and Ivy (Pratt) Clockedile.

Philip graduated from Aroostook Central Institute, Mars Hill, in 1954. He went on to the University of Maine, Orono, for three years. Philip then served three years in the U.S. Army, after which he returned to the University of Maine, where he graduated with a degree in education. Philip spent his entire teaching career at New Hartford (N.Y.) Central Junior and Senior High School. He retired to Tampa, Fla.

Philip was predeceased by his mother and father. He leaves his brother, Russell and wife, Joyce, of Mars Hill; sister, Patricia Carver and husband, Richard, of Beals Island; sister, Carolee Hallett and husband, Ronald, of Mars Hill; brother, Gerald Clockedile and wife, Gloria, of Old Orchard; brother, Steven and wife, Trudy, of Blaine; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He will be sadly missed by his special friends, Reno and Laura Johnson of Sauquoit, N.Y., and Gary and Ann Worthley of Tampa, Fla.

A memorial will be held in June when Philip will be laid to rest with his parents at Pierce Cemetery, Mars Hill. Those who wish may donate in Philip’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
