FORT FAIRFIELD – Sarah A. Brown, 93, wife of the late Philip Brown, passed away Saturday evening, March 3, 2012, at a Presque Isle health care facility, after an extended illness. She was born March 17, 1918, in Limestone, the daughter of James F. and Stella A. (Doody) Browning.

Sarah attended Fort Fairfield schools and was married to Philip Brown, Sept. 14, 1961. She had been employed for many years at Fort Fairfield Community General Hospital and will be remembered as a great cook, a doll collector and a music lover. Her warm smile and gentle disposition will be missed by her family and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Sarah was predeceased by her husband, Philip, Sept. 29, 1976; one grandson, Scott Browning; three brothers, Merle, Clayton and Vaughn Browning; and three sisters, Rose Scott, Mable Pendexter and Elizabeth Staples. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Sherwood A. and Nancy Browning of Bristol, Conn.; one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and David Sutton of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Lois Browning of Farmersville, Texas; one sister, Ruby Browning of Fort Fairfield; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; special friend and caregiver, Jean Stephenson of Presque Isle; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. with the Rev. Bernard Brown officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately after the service. Interment will take place later in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.
