JACKSON – Smith “Jr.” Bickford, 49, died unexpectedly March 2, 2012, at his home. He was born Sept. 9, 1962, in Bangor, the son of Smith L. and Barbara W. (Work) Bickford.

“Jr.” was a graduate of Nokomis Regional High School in the class of 1981. He was a self-employed truck driver hauling wood and logs. “Jr.” loved his family and had spent most of the last year spending time with them. He enjoyed camping, stockcar racing and he was a dedicated listener of “Country Gold Saturday Night.” He loved to sing country and western songs to anyone that would listen.

“Jr.” is survived by his father, Smith L. Bickford Sr. of Pittsfield; his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Gene Grover of Dixmont. He was the beloved father of six children: sons, Patrick Bickford of Brooks, Lucas Bickford of Brooks, stepson, Ralph Pearl Jr. of Plymouth, and daughters, Eriel and her husband, Bruce Coulter, of Jackson, Erika Bickford of Ellsworth and Elizabeth Bickford of Albion; one brother, Cecil L. Bickford of Etna; two half brothers, Terrance Dellaway of Florida and Bruce Bickford of Pittsfield; five half sisters, Deborah and her husband, Reed Dunphy, of Newport, Marilyn and her husband, Clint Roberts, of Florida, Linda Bickford, Pauline Bickford and Yvette Bickford, all of Pittsfield; and three beloved grandchildren, Emily, Camryn and Bruce. He was predeceased by two brothers, Rupert and Edwin.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of “Jr.’s” life to be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Barrows Skidgel American Legion Hall, North Street, Newport.
