ROCKLAND, Maine — A Camden woman who was the victim of a violent sexual assault two years ago has filed a lawsuit against both her attacker and the couple who hired him to do work at her home.
The lawsuit was filed Monday in Knox County Superior Court against Bradley Lemay, Corey A. Prock of Nobleboro and Lise M. Prock, also known as Lisa M. Brockett, of Randolph. The BDN is not naming the woman who filed the lawsuit because she is the victim of a sex crime.
Lemay, 46, was convicted in June 2011 of gross sexual assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, eluding a police officer, and tampering with a victim. He was sentenced to 55 years in prison.
The convictions stem from an attack in June 2010 against the Camden woman at her home.
The Camden woman hired the Procks beginning in 2008 to do jobs at her Camden properties such as lawn mowing, landscaping and general cleaning. She noted in the lawsuit that the Procks would bring an additional person with them to assist in the work.
During the spring of 2010, the Procks brought Lemay to work on her property and introduced him to the woman.
Lemay had spent 21 years in prison for gross sexual assault and kidnapping and had been released from the Maine State Prison in February 2010.
According to police reports and testimony at the trial, Lemay entered the woman’s home at night, held her at knife point, punched her in the face, and sexually assaulted her over the next four hours. After he left her home, he led police on a chase throughout Knox County with speeds reaching 100 mph. That pursuit ended in Rockland where Lemay was apprehended at gunpoint.
The Camden woman states in her lawsuit that the Procks fraudulently concealed Lemay’s violent criminal background, that they were negligent in hiring him and supervising him, and for infliction of emotional distress.
She is seeking damages in an amount to be determined at trial as well as punitive damages that are not specified in the lawsuit.
The Camden woman is represented by attorney C. Donald Briggs III of Rockport.
The Procks could not be reached for comment.

Good for her!
Do you know that many state parks use inmates as labor? Think about that the next time your kids are at the lake swimming and some pervert pushing a broom gets funny ideas…
/sigh
The inmates they use are not sex offenders. Also they are under the supervision of a corrections officer. You need to keep your eye on that guy that’s swimming with your kids. Also keep in mind that Maine is among the top states that have the highest number of non-violent inmates in the country.
YES…but lets not forget the very violent ones..we have them also~
Agree, but the rules are dramatically different for them. Very few are out on work release or supervised work programs.
If they are out doing community service it means they are minimum security, and have less than three years left on their sentence. That means they will soon be out, unsupervised as Lemay was. The community restitution work program is just one program to reintroduce the inmates to the real world. Some even learn a little while they do it.
That is a good use of non-violent inmates . Saves money and perhaps builds some net worth for the inmate. These are usually supervised and observed by corrections officers.
and ever noticed how the male school crossing guards always look like a damn pedophile?? thats messed up
And that has what to do with the conversation at hand? Not to mention, do they really ‘look’ like a pedophile or do you just see that due to some assumption that they are?
The saddest part is so far 24 people are as narrow minded as you. Please name one person who was assaulted or victimized by one of these inmates.
If the Procks knew the man’s background they deserve to be sued.
Bradley Lemay + GUILTY= CASTRATION !!!
The “criminals” have more “Rights & PC Protection” than the poor victim.
It’s SO Disgraceful, that today in a modern society, with the technology availale to keep track of all the perpetrators out there lurking around( electronic ankle bracelets) we still have creeps like this one, Bradley Lemay, feeling free and unhindered to do his acts of violence on innocent & unsuspecting individuals.
A bullet via firing squad is the best answer to this low life of a “man.’
So sorry to the poor lady that had to suffer this Tragic event.
Respectfully yours, 357magman
If we want to monitor people we need to have parole or supervised release. Parole can be a good thing if used properly. Sentence somebody to 50 years and you can monitor them until the 50 years is up no matter how early they are given parole. If they mess up they can be sent back to prison.
Tattoo a BIG RED “X” on the creeps forehead !
Those armed drones seem to work well overseas. I’m sure they can be modified to home in on electronic ankle bracelets.
I’ll chip in $2 towards the collection… ;(
I guess you haven’t heard the story about the police drone that crashed into a SWAT vehicle near Huston.
I don’t want drones hovering over American’s I’m all for shooting them down when we see them.As for this guy, he is why we need the death sentence.
Shoot them down if they ever come within range of your hardware.
Our “enlightened” supreme court has ruled out the death penalty for crimes against individuals that do not result in loss of life. The case was a guy in Louisiana who raped his 8 year old stepdaughter. We would need a constitutional amendment to overcome rulings like that. Notice that it’s “crimes against individuals”. They can still execute a person for crimes against the state like treason. Elevate the state and deprecate the individual? Fascists love that idea.
MmHmm. Or a giant in quotation “I am the scum of the earth.” or if all else fails a 357 would make a pretty big hole where his heart should be.
yup!! just like a scarlet letter!! so EVERYONE knows who these sick ppl are!!
I would agree for non-violent criminal types,,,,,,,,,but persons with a violent criminal past need a short lease until they can prove to society (by deeds , not words ) that they understand the ground rules that allow freedom!
They modify the conditions as people make progress. I’ve met people in other states who had gotten to the point where they only had to report things like a change in residence, employment or household members. Other than that they just had to complete and return a few forms that were occasionally sent to them. The parole officer still had the right to check up on them any time for any reason.
“Lemay had spent 21 years in prison for gross sexual assault and
kidnapping and had been released from the Maine State Prison in February
2010.”
Had this been a child instead of a woman this guy would have spent less than three years in prison.
It is shameful how a crime against a child gets less time. Should be automatic death sentence killing, molesting, or raping a child.
Where’s the death penalty when you need it…apparently the first 21 years made no impression on him whatsoever.
I agree our taxes fed clothed and housed this guy 21 years, now this woman suffers, and lucky us we get to take care of this scum bag for another 50 years, clearly the first 21 did nothing so let’s save ourselves some grief and bring back the death sentence.
Sounds like somebody has some sort of insurance here.
Shoudn’t mean a thing! They deserve to lose everything they own plus most of future earnings!
I agree, but where you gonna find a lawyer that works for nothin?????
These people are groundskeepers. You think they got anything?
This scumbag perp, we KNOW has nothing.
Where is the money going to come from???
And for this reason why would anyone hire a convicted criminal no matter the crime.
just make sure you lock your door hide your kids , wife and yourself, because how else are they going to make money if no one hires any criminal. : )
Well said. Just because somone is a convicted criminal does not make them a monster (Lemay is not the standard, obviously he is a monster). If we keep treating/labeling people that made a mistake as a bad person they will keep living up to that label. People need to survive somehow, and if they can’t legally then they will illegally.
Was there a back ground check done . Companies hire criminal all the time depending what there crime was . If criminals don’t get hired than they will go for welfare Do you want some one 40 years old collecting welfare for the rest of his life ? You cut then off from welfare than the city / town would half to take care on them
The other possibility is that we wind up running their mental health down to the point where they get SSI. I can see that happening if we get too many employers adopting a no convicted felons policy.
Prock knew Lemay so he hired him, very simple.
Because some people DO change, and some crimes (like kiting checks) can be done out of desperation.
There is such a huge difference in hiring someone who committed fraud or theft 21 years ago and hiring someone who committed a violent crime 21 years ago. Chances are, one of them has changed and learned a lesson and it isn’t usually the second type.
This guy is just a bad person.
A bad person? He is an evil person; should have been executed.
Well she could have used The Great Equalizer (Colt .45),
called in the Procks to clean up the mess,
and then still sue them.
Justifiable and Final.
I’m glad they got him! Most rapes go unprosecuted. They go unprosecuted because the rapist claim that it was not rape. Use of condoms and stating that the other party consented, makes presecution very difficult. With children it even becomes more difficult as they say the child is incompitent or too young to testify. Not enough evidence. Glad to see this pervert where he belongs. It seems the law isn’t happy unless, the victim is dead in a ditch. Then they really start getting serious about the rapist. I believe will all my heart that rapist just get worse, they start with rape and end up murdering. A dead victim is a victim that doesn’t scream for help. I am so glad this very brave lady has a story to tell, and is a survivor.
Hmm. What could have prevented this from happening? Oh ”Lemay had spent 21 years in prison for gross sexual assault and kidnapping and had been released from the Maine State Prison in February 2010. ” well theres our problem. She should sue the state, they also made it hard for that employer to say no to hire this guy as he deserved his equal rights.
Not quite. Companies can have a no convicted felons policy and it’s entirely legal as long as they are consistent. They don’t make any exceptions at all so they can’t be accused of giving someone a break based on race, religion, age, disbaility, etc.
Wrong. As a former Corporate Officer, the US has tax exemptions for companies that hire convicted felons. The hiring is never made public.
If they are on Probation they must (In Massachusetts) tell their employer that are on probation and the charge which placed them there.
That doesn’t change what I posted a bit. And the tax credit is only for the first employer who hires them and within a year after they get out of prison. Hiring a felon who did some non-violent crime years ago won’t get you a tax credit.
I didn’t even think of that.
Well, you were close. Once somebody like him does get hired, they can try to turn everything into an “equal rights” issue.
Prevention? No release.
indeed. Anyone who commits a crime that serios should never get out.
Goes to show be careful when you hire Illegal Aliens to work around your home and your family just to save a few bucks. You never know who or what you are bringing home to your family.
It’s just as likely to be someone you know. Illegal alien? Nope, prolly just the guy down the road.
What does “prolly” mean?
probably
Lemay isn’t an illegal. I doubt there are many illegals in Maine period. The people doing lawn work all look white to me.
Illegal immigrants come in any ethnicity and all colors. Some years ago Massachusetts found a large population of illegals from Ireland. Down in Brighton Beech in New York City, there are many illegal Russians. On the West Coast there are many Chinese who have outstayed their visa’s
The idea that all illegals are from Mexico is racist and incorrect.
Good point , Twin City Buffet comes to mind !
The people of Maine have always been proud of their work ethic, and are known nation wide as hard worker’s,I’ve seen mexican’s in the barren’s and on farms here in Maine they work hard.
As Mainer’s you think that would garner them some respect.Although I still think it should be done legally through work visa or going for citizenship.I read somewere that average pay in Maine is way below national average so we, and mexicans arn’t so very differant.
Didn’t you read the article a month or so ago about the raids on the Chinese restarants? There were some found at the Twin Super Buffet in Brewer.
The only cure for rapists and pedophiles is lead poisoning. At 1400 ft/sec.
Sue the life out of them! They are just a s guilty for putting the woman in danger like that!
Those that rape should be killed in the street.
A definite deterrent!
I once saw a man get lit on fire, as his flesh melted I somehow felt a comfort for him, like his sins where being melted away. That was just for theft in a South American country. I wonder what they would do to an animal such as this guy. He probably would not burn anyway. He would feel right at home I imagine.
Wow…it’s unreal what some people are capable of.
Indeed.
Giving a sex offender a prison term doesn’t “rehab” them. There is NO rehab for sex offenders. I would like to see them all put out on an island somewhere. If that can’t be done……….ankle bracelet or forehead tattoo so that the public can be warned. Castration will only make them continue with their violence in another manner. Very sad for everyone that is a victim of these very sick people.
I would like to wish this woman the best of luck in her lawsuit. I know winning the suit will not make up for the psychological and emotional pain Lemay put her through. However, some sort of remuneration would hopefully send a message to other employers that they need to do a far better job in screening their future hires, especially if these employers are doing work that will allow them access to people’s homes.
Good for her! I think more victims of rape should do this. It probably won’t make anyone think twice before raping someone but at least there will be another consequence other than jail. All employers should be doing background checks on anyone before they hire them. If they still decided to hire them, and these guys are being allowed to deal with the public and something happens, they are just as responsible. They basically showed the guy where this woman lived. You can’t dangle a piece of meat in front of a lion and not expect it to eat it.
That’s being proactive in taking control back in your life! Just because you’ve been victimized, you don’t have to be a victim. Good for you, ma’am and let’s hope the court system realizes that people have to realize the consequences of their actions. Not just the attacker, but those who knowingly put him in your life.
Sadly, she’ll probably never get a dime because people like these scumbags don’t have anything.
Thats why the scumbag lawyer is raising her hopes by sueing her neighbors…
Best wishes in your quest for justice-very brave of you to have to re-live this nightmare…HANG TOUGH!!
It seems to me that lately most sex offenders who make the news are repeat offenders. There is only one cure……
I am sorry for what this women suffered,
Having said that the only reason an employer would be held accountable is because they have a little money and the perp doesn’t… They should jail the scumbag lawyer who is trying to make someone accountable for any persons actions…
Here is the question. if your lawn mowing boy steals something from the corner store near where you live are you responsibile??? I don’t know why a Judge even allow the case to go forward unless it’s personal.. We are not the Babysitters of all adults we hire or come in contact with… Sue the Perp. Period…
Apparently some homeowner insurance policies will pay for negligence in a sexual assault situation and the intentional infliction of emotional distress, as long as the policy is not held by the perpetrator of such crime.
I was involved in a situation where a child was assaulted in my home. I did tell the guardians of the child that I had a homeowners policy that might possibly cover the child’s injuries and counselling and possibly more. I was not even at home when the incident occurred, but it was perpetrated by a guest in my home, much to my horror. The perp was found guilty and sentenced to a lengthy jail sentence. The guardians declined to sue me, as they did not see me as being responsible, but I think in the legal sense, I was definitely responsible!
This piece of dirt spent 21 years in prison for sexual assault…and he rapes again. Once a rapist, always a rapist. If the Prock had done a background check on this animal, they would have known that they were hiring a criminal. I hope this poor woman wins her case.
