GUILFORD, Maine — Police are still seeking a man who stole drugs from a pharmacy at knife-point and took off in a U.S. Postal Service vehicle on Saturday.
Lt. Bob Young of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department said Monday that authorities have a “strong suspect in the case.”
“We recovered some evidence that will identify him,” said Young, who would not release the name of the suspect.
At 11:48 a.m. Saturday, Young said a man wearing a Carhartt one-piece jumpsuit, a bandanna over his face and gloves pulled up to Rite Aid in a pickup truck that had been stolen from Corinna the evening before.
The man, who had a hunting knife, jumped over the counter and stole narcotics, but no money was taken.
“It was a considerable amount [of drugs],” said Young, adding that the robber was out of the building in less than two minutes. “Rite Aid is still doing their inventory.”
While the robber was in the store, a person went outside and took the man’s pickup truck and hid it on him.
When the suspect came out of the store, he tried to steal two vehicles at knife-point but was unsuccessful. He then ran across the street to the post office and stole a van that was being loaded, Young said.
The van was found in Parkman on Harlow Pond Road, where Young said he believes a vehicle was waiting for the robber.
Early Monday afternoon authorities released a photo from a Rite Aid security camera showing the robbery in progress.
Young called the robbery “very bold,” and said this is the first pharmacy robbery in the county.
“Pharmacy robberies seem to be getting fairly common,” he said.
The suspect was described as being a male in his 20s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing between 185 and 200 pounds.

Would love to have seen the look on his face when he realized some one stole his “stolen” truck.
Ha …. that is frickn funny
I wonder if he got the mail out faster than the post office?
things seem to be getting out of control with all the pill abuse, why dont pharmacies have a bottle of pills next to the counter that look like oxys’ but really they would give the lowlife thief the worst case of diahrea they ever had.
That’s a really good idea. Also it should make them throw up purple liquid.
Is it possible to sterilize people with a pill now?
because it is against the federal statue to have placebo (look the same but fake) in the pharmacy at ANYTIME
Someone moved the get away truck, Now that’s some quick thinking. LOL
Maine … The Way Life Outta Be!
Very disturbing pattern with these young adults. Some will say it’s the economy but it’s the pills. Even if these junkies had jobs it wouldn’t support their habbits!
Maybe he got tired of waiting a half hour for his prescription and jumped over the counter and got it himself!
They should have some BAIT PILLS to give to these crooks that would knock them out cold or better yet kill them.
I am sorry, but having his stolen ride…stolen from him and moved was classic MAINE news…awesome news. Oh….and catch this punk will ya and through away the key
okay….how did the person who moved the robbers truck know it was his??? Also couldn’t they identify the theif by running the plates on the truck??? That would make the most sense…..not to much police work involved
Running the plates would identify the owner of the truck, but not the robber. The truck was stolen. They can call in the plates now, if they would like, po-po got the truck after it was unhidden, and the robber got away in a postal truck. It’s all right there, above in the little words just below the really big ones.
Nice how some folks can sit on their butts and Monday morning quarterback! The truck was stolen, so plates would not identify the robber. The robber arrived, leaving the truck parked in front of the entrance with the door open, and ran inside — making a witness think something was amiss. Not too much research involved in your post.
And I thought it was Jerry Perdomo’s fault people were getting/abusing drugs in Maine…. guess not. Looks like there is a real home-grown problem up there, as here, and the other 48 other states in the country.
