CLAREMONT, N.H. – Allen Howd Fielder, 81, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 9, 2012, surrounded by family at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, N.H. He was born April 6, 1930, in Orono, son of the late Cecil Fielder and Marian (Hill) Gannett.
Allen grew up in the state of Maine and graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, with a bachelor’s degree. He worked as personnel director and safety coordinator with Georgia Pacific for his entire career. Allen married his loving wife, Phyllis, Oct. 26, 1969, in Calais, and later moved to Claremont, N.H., to enjoy their retirement.
Allen leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Phyllis (McGraw) Fielder; son, David Fielder and wife, Karen, of Brewer; stepdaughter, Laraine Vautour and husband, Ron, of St. Stephen, New Brunswick; stepson, Floyd Coons of Calais; daughter-in-law, Becky Fielder of Levant; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Allen was predeceased by his son, Dan Fielder; stepson, Philip Coons; two sisters and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate the life of Allen “Al” Fielder.
