STOCKTON SPRINGS – Lorna C. Thompson, 88, died March 14, 2012, at Waldo County General Hospital. She was born Jan. 12, 1924, in Fort Kent, to Donat and Laura (Madore) Laferriere.

Lorna had a great love of life and all people she encountered every day. Lorna was particularly fond of identifying each of us as “individuals” and you were treated as such. She dearly loved her husband, three sons, family and her house.

Lorna was also a talented artist and painter, using many mediums for her painting, most recently slate. She spent countless hours in the library and enjoyed playing her piano.

She is survived and will be missed by her six grandchildren, Rebecca Barnett, James Thompson, Peter Thompson, Christopher Thompson, Heather Thompson-Ciampi and Shauna Pendleton; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lorenzo Laferriere; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Thompson; her three sons, John F. Thompson Jr., James M. Thompson and Dorius E. Thompson; many brothers and sisters.

Family and friends will gather to remember and celebrate Lorna’s life 1-3 p.m. Monday, March 19, at Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Bangor Children’s Home/Hilltop School, 218 Ohio St., Bangor, ME 04401.
