Her family immigrated to Ellis Island, N.Y., from Wales and settled in Monson, working in the slate quarries. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Newport, R.I. She was educated in Monson and Dover. She was a homemaker, skilled knitter, avid reader, baker and mentor to all who knew her. She took pride in keeping her family and extended family “warm” with her afghans, sweaters, mittens and ski socks for her three generations of family. She will be remembered as the world’s best cookie baker, hugger, confidant and friend.
