VEAZIE – Richard P. “Dick” Delaney, 74, died peacefully March 27, 2012, after a long illness. He was born June 18, 1937, in Old Town, a son of James M. and Lucretia (McInnich) Delaney.
Dick was a very personable soul, always encouraging people, and kept a tremendous positive attitude. He was a graduate of Old Town High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. In his younger years he was a route salesman for Nissan Bakery. Dick was an avid baseball card collector. He was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed following the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, University of Maine Hockey and was a NASCAR fan, following Richard Petty and Bill Elliott.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Faith (LeBlanc) Delaney of Veazie; son, Richard Phillip “Rick” Delaney II and his wife, Sarah, of Livermore; three grandchildren, Amber, Rylee and Drew, all of Livermore; brother-in-law, Virgil LeBlanc and his wife, Janet, of Summerfield, Fla.; sister-in-law, Theoline LeBlanc of Summerfield, Fla.; brother-in-law, Michael LeBlanc and his wife, Sherry, of Gardiner; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother-in-law, Rudolph LeBlanc; and niece, Michelle LeBlanc.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor. Spring interment with military honors will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town.
