SANGERVILLE – O. Maxine Grant, 85, died March 29, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 2, 1926, in Presque Isle, daughter of Basil and Goldie (Hansen) Brooker.

She graduated from Hartland Academy and worked for several years at Sangerville Elementary School as a teacher’s aide. Maxine also worked as a clerk at the Ben Franklin Store, Guilford. She will be best remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of Stott Flanders American Legion Auxiliary, Sangerville, where she served a long time as secretary. Her interests included camping trips and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Francis B. Grant of Sangerville; three sons, Peter Grant of Lisbon, Richard Grant and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Millinocket and Douglas Grant and his wife, Marilyn, of Monmouth; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Brian Brooker and his wife, Linda, of Sangerville; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Randall; two brothers, Bud and Bruce; and three sisters, Marilyn, Jean and Rose.
