CAMDEN, Maine — A 26-year-old Camden woman is behind bars after being arrested for robbing the Rite Aid Pharmacy, police say.
This is the fourth time that the Camden pharmacy has been robbed in a little more than a year.
Heather Mansfield was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Saturday and charged with robbery. Police Chief Randy Gagne said Monday that Mansfield walked into the store and gave the pharmacist a note demanding drugs.
The chief said he did not want to go into more details on the robbery until she makes her initial court appearance, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday in 6th District Court in Rockland.
The chief said that heightened security measures and policies helped lead to a quick resolution of the case. He said that Camden Police Sgt. Patrick Polky apprehended Mansfield while she was still at Rite Aid.
Mansfield was arrested after she was interviewed by police. The Rockland criminal investigative division assisted Camden in the investigation.
Gagne noted he has been with the Camden Police Department for 23 years and there may have been three pharmacy robberies in all those years up until the string of four at Rite Aid in a little more than a year. He said he hopes the new security measures will prevent further robbery attempts.
The pharmacy was robbed March 10, Aug. 2 and Dec. 7 in 2011.

The greater problem is that we have created a welfare-entitlement society that, failing to get eveything handed to them decide they can take whatever they want, occupy where ever they want and destroy anything they want.
When people have to work, really work for something they treat it with far more consideration and respect. They also tend not to tolerate stupid and ilegal acts. (talking about the thieves – not you Livia.)

…..
Do you know this person or more details than what’s been published? I don’t recall any previous pharmacy robberies that involved a person requesting drugs that they were prescribed and taken away. Just trying to understand your angle.
….
What would you believe to be the drug she no longer has access to? Methadone?
….
I read the article. I’m aware of what it said. In another comment you said ”
Many people who have developed a dependency on Rx drugs began with the help of a healthcare provider. When cut off they are going to get the drug wherever and however they can. ”
Hence my earlier question. Again, I’m just trying to understand your angle.
Livia_D’s angle ?
I would say obtuse.
….
“Broad observation” is an understatement. You don’t understand why she resorted to this act?
You were certainly willing to jump to the far fetched opinion of ‘blame the governor’ statement you put forth, weren’t you? No other reason for her actions entered your mind?
….
“This sort of action is going to continue as long as this governor and his legislature continue their unconscionable attack against the poor by slashing MaineCare”. That’s simply nonsense! [“walked into the store and gave the pharmacist a note demanding drugs.”] So am I to understand that in your mind it’s OK to use social benefits money to purchase drugs with forged prescriptions?
….
Ii doubt the drugs were not needed, more like wanted to get high. throw them in jail and for more than a couple of days im thinking years then maybe theives will think twice. maybe even try working instead.
….
Funny when its a male that robs a pharmacy everyone screams “Lock him up, throw away the key, Another loser off the streets” When its a female, its blamed on the governor and legislature!
….
This is ridiculous. None of the proposed MaineCare changes have even gone into affect.
We have a prescription drug addiction issue in this state and that is why people are robbing pharmacy’s.
What is really “unconscionable” is your attempt to somehow twist this story into a political attack on a governor whose ideas and policy proposals you don’t like…not mention it is rationally absurd.
Even if we gave everyone free health-care that wouldn’t mean that addicts would get all the pills they wanted from their doctors or that the human propensity to use drugs would cease to exist.
Off topic I know, but you are butchering the English language. *effect; *pharmacies; *health care. I don’t pretend to be perfect myself. I make mistakes often, but no one will take you seriously with so many careless errors in one post. Perhaps we should fund the Bangor schools a little more? Thanks for bringing another issue to light.

Oh, paaleese! It was not a passing observation. It was a way off idea of ‘blame somebody else’.The last part in quotations was added after you realized the first part was a bit ‘off kilter’. You’ve toned it down in the new story with the ‘closer to the truth’ story.
….
The new story, if you haven’t found it yet, is there. It’s presented without showing an update clause. You’ve already commented on it with the ‘tragic’ word.

>Unkown
LOWING GAS PRICES!! will end crime yayay
MOOO!
Did that work?
….
But when you intentionally keep the populace ignorant, people will vote against their own interests and elect what we have now.
Thanks, I like that.

Hey, thin skinned moderator. Was it my use of ‘bloody’ or ‘Heysoos’ that made my comments disappear?
Just maybe you can shut off my bloody red notification square for Heysoos’ sake? It’s been on all day!
I love all the comments accusing this guy or that , this party or that party. I re-read the article and still can’t see just who made her rob the pharmacy. Was someone holding a gun to her head forcing her to attempt robbery? Was someone holding a loved one hostage ? It seems to me that Ms. Mansfield is the culprit.
