HYDE PARK, Vt. — The prosecution says a former nurse charged in the drugging death of her 3-month-old grandson may argue that she was impaired at the time and not criminally responsible for his death.
Pamela Raymond, of Morristown, who lost her nursing license for diverting drugs in 1996, is accused of giving Warren Bailey an antidepressant on Sept. 13, 2010 to keep him quiet so he wouldn’t bother her husband while she was out of the house.
Raymond has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.
Lamoille County State’s Attorney Joel Page told the Burlington Free Press that the defense is considering whether to argue that Raymond suffered from diminished capacity at the time of her grandson’s death.
Raymond’s next court appointment is scheduled for April 25.

Impaired???
How is she impaired? And how is giving a 3 month old medication NOT meant for them anything BUT criminal? Do we really care about life here because I’m just not feeling it. There is no defense to the drugging death of an infant. A nurse of anyone would have better opportunity to know drugging an infant is simply dangerous and therefor wrong.
