CHERRYFIELD – Lois H. Duguay, 78, a longtime resident of Washington County, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012, in Ellsworth. Lois was born Jan. 23, 1934, in Lubec, to William and Gladys (Davis) Stewart.

She was a bright student, graduating a year early from Addison High School in 1952. After meeting at a dance in Columbia and a yearlong courtship, Lois married Clifford “Dick” Duguay in 1953. She worked for a time raking blueberries and later developed a talent for welding. Lois then used her welding skills in the custom fabrication trade. When not in labor market, she cared for her family as a homemaker. Two of her favorite hobbies were collecting dolls and patronizing tag and yard sales. Lois also enjoyed her fellowship and attendance at Cherryfield First Baptist Church. Her most valued times were spent nurturing and loving her children and grandchildren.

Lois is survived by her husband of 58 1/2 years, Clifford Duguay; son, Rod Duguay; sister, Juanita Hayward, all of Cherryfield; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Ronald Duguay; and brothers, Warren Davis, Russell Hayward and Donald Hayward.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Cherryfield First Baptist Church with Pastor Max Merrill officiating. Private committal will be held at Haley Hill Cemetery, Columbia. Remembrances may be donations to Disabled American Veterans, attention Gift Processing, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
