MADAWASKA – Gerald B. “Zie” Cyr, 78, passed away peacefully Friday, April 6, 2012, at his home. A native of Madawaska, he was a resident all his life. He was born Nov. 7, 1933, in Madawaska, son of Isaie and Emily (Banville) Cyr.
He loved motorcycles, cars and the outdoors all his life. He was a member of Knights of Columbus third degree.
He is survived by two sons, David and his wife, Bonnie, of St. David, and Pete of Milan, N.H.; one brother, Ken and his wife of Mechanic Falls; four sisters, Jossie and her husband of Frenchville, Joann Pelletier of Mesa, Ariz., Shirley Mathews of Columbus, Ohio, and Janice and her husband of Washington state; and two grandchildren, Dee and Harley. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris (Michaud) Cyr, in 1988; two children, Johnny and Judy; and a sister, Barbara Prell of Syracuse, N.Y.
There will be no viewing. A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to hospice.
