SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — South Portland police are searching for a man they say robbed a convenience store on Cottage Road late Wednesday.

The male suspect made off with a small amount of cash from the Big Apple store, South Portland police Lt. Steve Webster said in an email.

The man, who was not armed, entered the store just before 11:30 p.m. and demanded cash from the register.

Webster did not disclose how much cash the man escaped with.

The man is described as 20 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 130 pounds, Webster said. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with his face covered and black jeans with a stain near his knee.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts should contact the South Portland police at 799-5511 and use extension 7417 to reach investigating officer Detective Matt Cyr.
