COREA, Maine — A reward is being offered for the return of five paintings collectively valued at $100,000 that were stolen recently from a summer residence in the Hancock County community of Corea.
A groundskeeper doing a routine walkthrough of the Ram’s Head lighthouse compound in Corea discovered last week that paintings by Thomas Buttersworth, M.F.H. de Hass and Reynolds Beal had been stolen.
Gouldsboro police Officer Jim Malloy has been working with a Hancock County Sheriff’s Department detective in investigating the theft. Information about the theft has been forwarded to the Maine State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The theft also is being investigated by the insurance company of the homeowner, who asked not to be identified.
“These are valuable pieces of art that I bought and would buy again,” the homeowner said Saturday. “I’m more than willing to put up a reward of some sort if I can get these pieces back.”
Images of the stolen artwork can be seen on the Bangor Daily News website.
Anyone with information about the paintings should call Gouldsboro police at 963-5589.

I think these are undervalued by a factor of 3.
These are beautiful – what a shame!! I hope they find them
How many local thugs would recognize this kind of value?
Anyone know what Myles Connor is doing these days?
Don’t hold your breath waiting for the local police to solve the theft. They can’t find Ayla the missing toddler in Waterville or much else.
I bet LePage has them hidden with the Labor Mural.
I sure didn’t take them.
They are as boring as the ones you can get at any furniture store…..
