STETSON – Maxine “Jo” Harding, 78, passed away peacefully April 16, 2012, at her home with her family by her side, after losing her battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 28, 1934, in Etna, daughter of Charles B. Graves Sr. and Gladys M. (Sylvester) Graves.

She attended Newport High School. She worked as a teacher and a waitress for many years before working at Striar’s Woolen Mill, Corinna and Dexter Shoe Co., Newport, until retirement. She belonged to several clubs and organizations in her earlier years. Maxine was an avid bingo player and enjoyed socializing with all of her family and friends. She also loved to go fishing and camping with her family.

Maxine is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Floyd Harding; son, Norman Harding and his wife, Leona, of Rockwood; and daughter, Mary Tufts of Stetson. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Steven Harding of Florida, Jason Harding of Rhode Island, and Amanda Sibley and her husband, Gary, of Stetson; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Sibley, Victoria Harding, Elizabeth Harding, Makayla Sibley, Jamison Harding and Mallory Sibley; three sisters-in-law, Flora Graves, Arlene Graves and Pauline Harding; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters, Neil Graves, Herbert Graves, Kenneth Graves, John Graves, Charles Graves II, Olive Sargent and Gladys Merrill. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
