AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine residents are seeing some relief at the pump with gas dropping in price by nearly a nickel per gallon in the past week.
Price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com reports Monday that the average retail price in the state is down to $3.94 per gallon.
The national average fell just over four cents to $3.85 per gallon.
Still, gas in Maine costs more than eight cents more a gallon than a year ago and almost nine cents more than a month ago.
A company analyst says average gasoline prices nationally continue to slowly drop.

No price drop in Madawaska………..maybe that’s because our prices are based on the canadians coming over for gas.
Yup, $4.159 in VB.
It will be up to $3.99 by next week, this decline is short lived.
WOOOOOW Thank You for informing us over 5cents. By the 4th of July it will be $4.75 per gallon or more.
While gas goes down elsewhere in Millinocket gas has gone up a penny for three straight days to $4.03/9 at the Irving’s Circle K’s Station.
Unless it drops significantly, which I don’t see happening, this five cent drop is nothing more than another in the bucket.
Interesting predictions by the “experts”.
Time to give up the SUV’s and 4WD vehicles. The hard facts are that it will not get any better. There is too much international demand for oil.
Give the status symbol and get a fuel efficient car. I sold my SUV, got a front-wheel car and it gets through the snow just fine.
