JONESBORO – Charlotte “Lottie” M. (Look) Geel, 76, passed away April 19, 2012, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth, with her family by her side. Lottie was born Feb. 14, 1936, daughter of Lysten M. and Elizabeth (White) Look.
She graduated in 1953 from Jonesboro High School as valedictorian of her class. Lottie taught music in Jonesboro and Addison schools before retiring. She played piano in dance bands starting in her teens and throughout her life. Lottie played various types of music from gospel and jazz to country and rock, and very beautiful hymns, along with playing piano for more than 100 weddings all throughout Washington and Hancock counties. She also worked for Washington Hancock Community Agency for many years and always enjoyed helping out anyone in need. Lottie was a born again Christian and a member of Jonesboro Union Church. She received the community Citizen Award from Jonesboro Grange No. 357. She was devoted to her family and to helping others all of her life.
Lottie was predeceased by her parents; son, Mitchell Geel; and three brothers, Wellsley Look, James Look Sr. and Allen Look. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Royce E. Geel of Jonesboro; three sons, Kerry and wife, Valorie, of Columbia, Royce Geel II and wife, Heather, of Jonesboro and Darron and companion, Joe, of Brewer; sister, Glenna Robinson and husband, Kenneth, of Harrington; four granddaughters, Nicole Leighton, Jaime Geel, Brooke Geel and Ayla Geel; two great-grandsons, Dylan and Jacob Nyberg; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26, at Jonesboro Community Room, Looks Point Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Gifts of Music, P.O. Box 264, Orrington, ME 04474, which provide instruments, grants and scholarships to middle and high school students. Arrangements by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge.
