BANGOR, Maine — Bangor Police Department detectives and a representative from the state medical examiner’s office are investigating the death of a baby boy Tuesday morning.
Emergency medical personnel and police were called to 92 Allen St. at about 9:30 a.m. for a report of an unresponsive male infant, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Tuesday afternoon in a news release.
The child was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Edwards said.
Edwards said Bangor police and the medical examiner’s office are working to determine the cause and manner of the infant’s death. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Wednesday, he said.
The infant’s death Tuesday at 92 Allen St. is the second death of a child at that address in less than four months.
Bangor police investigated the death of a child under the age of 3 at that location on Dec. 30.
Edwards said Tuesday that the two deaths are not believed to be connected “at this time.”
Bangor police are still awaiting the results of toxicology tests being conducted on the child who died in December, Edwards said in a recent interview.
The house at 92 Allen St. appears to comprise two apartments. It was not immediately clear Tuesday if the two children who died had the same parents.

BDN had posted abotu a child dying on allen st in the last couple months too..whats going on over there?
same house too
I hope they test the house, too, if foul play is ruled out. So sad.
yeah,this is a little creepy.
I found this…it was the same address accoring to a channell 7 story…http://www.wvii.com/print_story.html?SKU=20120102212745
That is definitely very suspicious! Good job finding that story! Hopefully the police take that into consideration as well. If there is no foul play found, I pray the family is able to cope.

i thought this sounded familiar. wow at the same address and everything. i feel bad for the family involved if there was no foul play…to lose two babies in such a close proximity is so horrible. to lose a baby period is horrible. :(
Will we ever find out the whole story?
no, they never tell the whole story… they post a tiny snipit to get you to read the article that contains NO ADDITIONAL information… i dont even know why i read the paper anymore
Ya we never did find out about the last case.
How very sad that this little person never got a chance to live his life :(
no comment, no comment, no comment. Why bother.

2 deaths coming from the same address?
I hope that sweet little angel is at peace……
Oh God……..
The toxicology report on Whitney Houston came back quicker than it is taking the first childs to come back.
sad but true
Is something in that building poisonous/toxic?
With 2 dead children, it certainly makes you wonder, especially if it comes back that they are from 2 separate families.
You could say that. Keep digging BDN if you want to report the truth.
Two in four months something is wrong with this picture. RIP little one you will always be a angel in heaven.
the first baby was my grand baby and nothing was found in all the tests even now. This child that passed today was not our relative and maybe there is something wrong with the apartment building?????
you me like carbon monoxide??!!!!
That same thing occured to me but having seen carbon monoxide deaths in an ER, they would have known right away if that was the case. There is a condition that results from black mold spores that are often invisible, but I believe that should have shown up on autopsy. There will have to be literally dozens of tests done for toxicology but even the standard tests may not show anything, there could be a toxin outside the realm of the usual culprits. I hope someone will keep pursuing a cause of death, but the unfortunate truth is these could be coincidental and tragic cases of SIDS.
My condolences to both families. I cannot imagine anything worse, except maybe not knowing what happend.
Very sorry you lost your Grandchild. You can be sure it wasn’t your fault. You didn’t have a hand in the death. Very sorry for you on many, many levels.
<3
I’m sorry for the loss of your grandchild. I also have to wonder about that apartment building!
Sorry for your loss. Something has to be in the apartment… paint, mold, something. Shocking! Very Shocking!
So sorry for your loss, YaYaYa2012. So sad!
There is actually a national story that is remarkably similar to this where the mother just got charged with Gross Neglect of a child as she had put both children in bed with her and they both became deceased….With SIDS out there, its hard to know for sure but i would think this is very fishy to the random reader…One child is a tragedy, two in four months, questions HAVE to be asked….Good to see they are doing just that….
I just saw a show about SIDS. It came to light when a woman kept losing babies, a lot of them. It turns out a doctor didn’t think this woman would hurt her kids, thought he was going to make a name for himself. It turns out the mother was suffocating her babies. She did it for attention, she had munchausen. The show ended leaving you to wonder is SIDS a real unxplained problem or is it accidental suffocation or other health issues.
The show did say after the doctor came up with SIDS the number of crib deaths escalated.
That was one case! There may even be a FEW others out there. I think what you are suggesting does a real disservice to parents who have lost infants to a legit diagnosis of SIDS. I personally know of a case where a mother and her daughter (many years later obviously) lost infants to SIDS on the same date in May.
Actually there were more than a few cases brought up. A disservice? I didn’t write the show, neither did I say SIDS doesn’t happen. I know of several cases where people put pillows and toys in their babies beds, left thick blankets loose as well as put babies on their stomachs when they were too young to lift their heads and has caused problems and deaths. Cats have accidentally suffocated babies, as have dogs when babies have been left on the floor unattended. Which none of them I would call SIDS. Babies have been known to be suffocated by too much wind making it impossible for them to catch a breath. Too much ventilation and not enough can have the same bad effect.
As for the people you know, sad about the babies but that would make SIDS a genetics problem in that family and they should all be aware and take steps to have the child monitored until they get past the age of the problem.
As I read it, it doesn’t appear the two cases were connected and it is not even known if the children had the same parents. I’m anxious to hear more (if we ever do)
If both families were co-sleeping, that would make a whole lot more sense, but I think we would have heard about that. There are infant beds made specifically for families that want to co-sleep so the parents cannot roll over and suffocate their infants. There is a still a lot of education that needs to be done regarding co-sleeping and hopefully if this was the case the police could find a way to release that information without the community wanting to stone the parents. Co-sleeping has its advocates, but I am not a fan.
How VERY sad.
WAIT. Wait until the investigation is complete and the autopsy tests are back. WAIT.
I hate to say it, much less think it, but if the first death was due to some sort of toxin, the second might have been prevented, if the tests were completed in a timely fashion.
When I found my husband dead in our living room five years ago, on Feb. 28, it took until June 11, to get the test results back. For us, we knew what, just not how much. It took longer again to get someone at the ME’s office to sign off on his case. In their defense, a wonderful person there explained to me how woefully understaffed they were while sympathizing with my plight. I know this state is having a difficult economic time but we need to commit more resources (money) to this division if we want answers in cases like these.
Thanks for your input. I’m not clear on your own personal story. Did your husband die from some sort of toxin also? I assume because there are 2 baby deaths in the same location in only 4 months, those in charge of the investigation would put a rush on toxicology reports, as those in charge of community health and safety would have to clear out the house of residents immediately.
What is it with that house? RIP little ones.
Usually houses don’t have the problem, it’s the people in the house that do. Only children die in the home, the adults and couch surfers are always olk though? Mmmmm.
You have to keep in mind that if it IS somehow related to a chemical in the home or water that the effect it would have on a small child is much more severe than what it would have on a grown adult. There are cases of children dying from lead poisoning and poisoning from other toxins found in homes and water, where the adults who had the same exposure could recover from due to their size and age.
I guess what I was really asking is, what type of people does that house attract?

Why would you say that? No cause of death has been determined for either child. They are from different families. DHHS should not even be involved.
Why are we still waiting for toxicology reports from the death in 2011 – goodness, how long should that take – it’s been over 4 months – pretty slow test..would be nice for law enforcement to close that case sometime this year.
psssssss, law enforcement knows what it was.
cough up more tax dollars to buy another lab to get this test pushed ahead of the long line of tests they already have.
Unfortunately, these tests get farmed out to out of state labs that do the tests for less money. There is usually a backlog of tests to be run at these labs and the cause of long delays. Celebrities usually get results a little faster because of media attention and because in some cases the family pays to have the tests done on a priority basis. These tests are NOT cheap and their are many of them. These little infants are likely being screened for poisons, drugs, environmental toxins as well as common household items. The problem will all of this, is all the tests could be negative because they may miss some toxin that is not among the usual suspects in these kinds of deaths. I really wish this state had the resources to cover everything and at least give these parents the comfort of a cause of death.
So sad R.I.P
wow this is a creepie story,so sad it happened again!i hope if there was foul play someones held accountable for it!!!!
They need to thoroughly check for black mold… may not be enough to kill an adult, they may just feel run down… or blame allergies… but obviously something weird going on inside, 2 unrelated babies… in 4 months… creepy.
in the hospital, ive gotten a full tox screen back in less than an hour….. 4 months? maybe this baby wouldn’t have died if the results came back sooner. Hopefully this is an un realistic coincidence and not a case of child abuse/ Munchhausen. I hope it’s figured out before more babies die.
Doing a blood test on a living person, believe it or not, is different than testing post mortem blood. There are many post mortem processes that occur that make the tests very specialized and tests often have to be run multiple times to assure proper results.
Why can’t people just leave the family alone? Why do people have to drive by to see the house where a poor little baby died? One person on here said,” Can you imagine how many people will be driving around looking for that house.’ The reporter was stupid to put the address of the house in the new’s. He should be fired and the Bangor News company should be sewed. There is a law that protects people from that kind of thing’s, at least there should be. people pay more attention to other people’s lives, then their own. I hate raciest, people who hate gay people and other’s like that. God made man the way he saw he wanted too. People shouldn’t judge other’s. God is the judge r of men. If you judge, he will judge you on judgement day. What will you say to him when he ask’s you why you tried to do his job? People, stop judging, leave other people alone. Leave that family alone and let the police do their job’s and God will do his. Prey for the baby boy, the family and ask God to forgive you of your sin’s. consintrate on your own life.
How would you feel if it were you and people kept driving by your house?
